Caring, Personalized Treatment

People say they've never seen a friendlier dental office! That should really come as no surprise, since every member of the staff is dedicated to the idea that each person deserves to be treated with the same warmth, courtesy, and respect they would like to experience themselves.

Our protocol is not mysterious or complicated. We'll first complete a thorough examination and present the findings to you. After you tell us what you would like dentistry to do for you, we will present and help you sort through the various options available. You then select the treatment most appropriate for you, and you're on your way. It's that easy.

What services do we provide in our office? Simply put, we do about everything you would expect a comprehensive dentist to do. In a nutshell, if you have a dental problem, the odds are pretty high we can address it. You will not be referred all over creation to receive your treatment. Whether you need an implant, conventional extraction, surgical extraction, wisdom teeth removed, non-surgical or surgical root canal treatment, minor or complex orthodontic care, hospital-based care, etc., we will probably be able to do it for you. We think this one-stop approach is the best one for our patients. Why? Well, there are several reasons. In the first place, once you feel at home in the office and know you're always going to be treated courteously and comfortably, you'll not like being sent to a different doctor every time you need anything done beyond a simple cleaning, filling, or cap. That's not only inconvenient; it's uncomfortable, unsettling, and just plain scary!

An example will illustrate the second reason. Dental implants are often used to replace missing teeth. We have been placing and restoring them since 1980. It is rare that we will send you away to have one placed in your mouth. Why? Because the tooth and its supporting implant need to be in a very precise position in order to properly mesh with the teeth in the opposite jaw. We know from our experience with you where that is. The best way to get the implant where it belongs is for us to put it there, not to rely on someone else and just hope it happens.

Beyond that, a proverbial wise person once said, "If the only tool is your chest is a hammer, everything you see looks like a nail." If a dentist lacks training in the discipline of orthodontics, there is no thought of a possible orthodontic solution to your problems. An example: if you have spaces between some or all of your front teeth, which otherwise are healthy and cosmetically acceptable, other dentists may grind down your teeth and use procelain crowns or veneers to close the gaps. The thought never occurs to them to just close the spaces via orthodontics without ever touching your teeth. If, however, orthodontics is a routine part of the practice, the teeth are simply moved and that is that! The gaps are closed, as is the case. The teeth remain pristine and untouched!

Dentists have extracted many teeth when routine, predictable, and comfortable root canal therapy could have been performed. Or perhaps, even the root canal could have been avoided had the dentist been aware that the nerve could have been treated instead of removed. And the list goes on. . . Suffice to say, the more expertise your dentist possesses in the various subspecialties of dentistry, the more you benefit. A breadth and depth of knowledge and experience are invaluable. That's what we think!

All this is not to say that we never, ever refer anyone to a dental specialist for care. We do. When you have a need that exceeds our level of skill or judgement. you will be referred to a specialist immediately! Nor is it to say this approach is the right one for every person. Just because it makes sense to us doesn't mean it has to for you. Some people just feel better receiving their treatment from a "specialist". If so, that's what they should do, and we are happy to provide them with a list of capable specialists from which to choose. 

At the end of it all, our goal is pretty straightforward. We want you to be enthusiastically pleased with the way you are treated in our office! If we accomplish that, we are pleased with our effort. If not, then we have a problem and we want to know about it. That means we'll need your help. We need for you to tell us if we have disappointed you. We'll do everything we can to make it right.
